STUDENT APPLICATION
The Air Force Research Laboratory Air Vehicles Directorate is seeking faculty members and accompanying graduate students in technical fields to collaborate with research staff at Wright-Patterson AFB for the summer of 2010.
Faculty qualifications:
- U.S. citizen, permanent-resident, or Foreign National, (Foreign Nationals may apply),
- current full-time faculty member of an accredited U.S. college, university, or technical institution, and
- at least 2 years of teaching and research experience.
Graduate student qualifications:
- U.S. citizen or permanent-resident,
- bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, and
- current full-time student in an accredited graduate program in a field related to the laboratory disciplines.
Undergraduate student qualifications:
- U.S. citizen or permanent-resident,
- pursuing a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and
- current full-time student in an accredited graduate program in a field related to the laboratory disciplines.
General Terms of the Program
If selected, expect to work continuously for an 8 to 12 week period between May 10 and Sep 24, 2010. At the conclusion of your tour, you must write and present a final report summarizing your accomplishments in the program.
You will be compensated at the following rate (based on 40 hours per week)

Students will be considered a consultant employee of the contractor that administers the program. As such, the contractor will withhold federal, state, and FICA taxes, but will not provide insurance coverage.
Faculty members will be considered independent contractors through Universal Technology Corporation (UTC), that administers the program. As such, UTC will not withhold taxes or FICA from your paycheck or provide insurance coverage. Thus, for income-tax purposes, you will be responsible for all of the income you earned during your Summer Research term.
Per Diem - For those researchers with a commute distance greater than fifty miles (one way by the most direct route) and who have obtained a temporary residence while working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, a daily expense allowance is provided.
$56 per day for meals/expenses (7 days/week)
Housing expenses will not be directly reimbursed. Current compensation rates include the average housing cost allowance.
Reasonable Travel Expenses to and from the Dayton, Ohio area will be reimbursed by UTC. (for one round trip)
